Neil Daniell | KirbyG’s Diner

Neil Daniell, who grew up on a farm outside Dublin, Georgia, never planned on owning a restaurant. He studied geology and geochemistry and worked in emergency preparedness and response. But life had other plans, and in 2008, he and his wife, Erica, opened KirbyG’s Diner, a 1950s-themed restaurant in McDonough.

Named after Erica’s father, KirbyG’s features a classic diner vibe with a black-and-white checkered floor, vintage records on the walls, and an old-school jukebox (sadly, it’s no longer in working order). The menu is full of ’50s-inspired items, from the Old Blue Eyes burger to the Foghorn fries. The restaurant’s standout feature is its award-winning burgers, made to order with creative toppings like pulled bacon and sweet and spicy sauce.

Good to know: KirbyG’s was crowned the 2018 World Burger Champion at the World Food Championships.
